Holiday Magic - The Gift of Love
A two story emotion-wrapped Christmas anthology:
Priceless Love by Lavada Dee
Healing Love by Laurie Ryan

About HEALING LOVE:

Nicole Milbourne is committed to a cause--eradicating the deadly disease that stole her mother's life. She's only a three year medical residency away from her dream job in cancer research. If only she could skip the whole patient care thing. Her diagnostic skills are top notch, but textbooks are easier to read than patients.

One man is determined to show her a world larger than her single-minded focus. Charismatic Dr. Damien Reed, head of Nicole's residency program, is everywhere she turns, sometimes gentle, sometimes pushy, always nudging her in directions she doesn't want to go. When she realizes the truth in what he says, she opens up to her patients, and to him, in ways she never imagined. The wall she built around her heart begins to crumble.

Adrift for Christmas, her favorite holiday, Nicole accepts the lifeline Damien tosses her; Christmas with his family. Will an unexpected Christmas fill Nicole's lonely heart and show her the healing power of love?

REVIEWS

Nikki Bywater, Amazon reader, says:

"This is a delightful book which is perfect for the Christmas holiday season. Holiday Magic - The Gift of Love contains two beautiful told stories about love and romance."

EXCERPT:

The buzz of Damien's pager sounded harsh in the quiet room.
"That about your patient?"
"Yes." Damien pushed off the desk and stood.
Nicole stood with him, handing him the now wrinkled lab coat. "Maybe talking to her again would give you more clues?"
"I agree," he said. "But I need to get her pain under control first."
"Would you like me to go with you?"
One side of his mouth quirked up. He reached to brush a strand of hair back from her face and traced a tender line down her cheek. "No. However I look, you look worse."
"Thanks," she said with a laugh that vanished under the intensity of his gaze. Tough patients, sleep deprivation, everything negative in her life at the moment faded as she let her eyes show what her words could not. She cared for Damien Reed much more than she should.
She no longer felt tired. In fact, she wanted this moment to go on forever. His hand cupped her chin. Her eyes dipped to his lips. She'd let his smile lull her to sleep more nights that she could recall. Now, desire overrode sense. She wanted to feel those lips on hers.
He lowered his head one agonizing centimeter at a time. Nicole's breath was nothing but infinitesimal puffs of air as she waited for the touch she'd dreamed about.
The door behind them creaked open and another resident stepped in. "Oh," he said. "Sorry."
Nicole never did figure out how Damien managed to put distance between them so fast. "No need to be sorry," he told the doctor. He stared at Nicole for a long moment before motioning to the couch. "Get some shut-eye." Without another word, he strode out of the room.

Northern Lights
Finding love in the heart of Alaska

When New York corporate man Renzo Gallini shows up with papers saying he owns the waystation Jess Jenkins lives and breathes for, she laughs in his face. But things get tense when he's got the paperwork to prove it...and her father, who apparently signed their home away, is nowhere to be found.

Jess has lived her entire life at Last Chance Camp, a man's world where femininity is relegated to wisps of time behind her closed apartment doors. Yet she's proud of what they've built here. Last Chance is all she needs to be happy and no amber-eyed city-boy will convince her otherwise.

Renzo Gallini left New York on his mother's foolish errand, to ferret out what changes would be needed to turn an Alaskan truck stop into a vacation destination. He finds little of merit in the wide spot in the road until the small community, led by a fiercely loyal tomboy, show him there's more to Alaska than just ruts in the road. That survival depends not just on good planning, but on each other. And love can be found in places where you least expect it.

REVIEWS

Gail Harkins, Amazon reader, says:

"Northern Lights lives up to its name, with the spectacular aurora borealis almost mirrored by the earth-bound chemistry between Alaskan Jess and New Yorker Ren."

Marilee Brothers, Amazon reader, says:

"Never in my life have I wanted to visit the Artic Circle. But, after reading Northern Lights, I may have to put it on my bucket list. Although it's a traditional romance, it is multi-layered and will keep your interest throughout. I particularly appreciated the cultural references, often absent in books of this type."

EXCERPT:

Ren sipped coffee from the restaurant's porch and watched the tourist group outside dwindle until only Jesse was left. She pulled her hair free of its band and gazed skyward. Then, to his surprise, she began to twirl in slow circles, her body swaying in time to a music he could not hear, her arms outstretched to the meandering ribbons in the sky. Her dark hair, unbound now that her day was done, swirled about her in soft waves.

Ren froze, caught in the hypnotic display of her almost spiritual union with the sky around her. She moved with a fluid grace Ren found more profound and sensual than anything he'd ever experienced. He swore he could feel the thrum of the spirits flowing through his own veins as a web of peace settled around his beating heart.

As he watched, Jess's soft sounds of delight were joined by another quieter, more elusive sound, almost like a hushed whistle. He smiled, betting that Jess would say the spirits approved.

He waited and watched as Jess danced in their midst until the last light faded from the night sky. He watched until she wandered beyond his sight. Even then, he stood, his coffee forgotten. He felt...bereft with her disappearance. He wanted to call her back.

Somehow, Ren knew that, with tonight's events, his life had been forever changed. And right now, at this moment, he didn't mind one bit.

Dark Diva Reviews

"Stolen Treasures is a wonderful book! It has romance, adventure, and suspense all wrapped up in one edge-of-your-seat story."

EXCERPT:

Finally, after a third hail, a head appeared above her, slowly followed by a body hard to ignore. Tanned, muscular legs gave way to khaki cut-offs, complete with frayed ends. The t-shirt was modern but dirt-smudged and tight enough to show off an impressive chest and arms. Further up, longish, dark hair, scruffy stubble, and unreadable eyes completed the illusion. He looked like a pirate. Claire glanced up at the mast, half expecting to see the infamous Jolly Roger flying there.
He didn't say a word, and she felt her cheeks flare with heat as he observed her. Using her clipboard as a fan, Claire let her brain delude her into believing the warmth seeping slowly through her body was weather related.
That's when he raised a leg to place a sandaled foot on the boat's railing, flexing well-defined muscles. The tempo of her fanning increased.
Yes, this guy could easily pass for a pirate. One of those old time swashbucklers who stole their women away to ravage them in the privacy of the captain's quarters. Tall, dark and...scowling? Wait a minute. That wasn't the way the fairytale went, was it?
Struggling to regain some composure, she adjusted her sunglasses and dug deep to remember why she stood here.
"I'm afraid you're not supposed to be here."
He just stared at her. That's all. No response, no raised eyebrow. Nothing, damn it.
"Did you hear me?"
"Yes."
She quickly suppressed the small shiver that trailed down her back. "Well, then?"
"Where is it you think I'm not supposed to be?"
"Here!" she said, pointing at the dock for effect.
He simply stared at her again. She stiffened. She had a long to-do list today and, muscled or not, this sailor stood directly in her path.
"You need to move this boat."
"No. I don't," he replied casually.
"What?" She tried very hard not to shriek.
"I said, 'No, I don't.'" He turned away and disappeared as if the conversation was over.
Claire's mouth dropped open. Instinct overrode thought as she hurried to the gangplank. She struggled to quickly navigate the steep angle and halfway up, tripped.
That figures. Limping now, she chose to ignore the standard "permission to come aboard" courtesy and kept going until she caught up to him.
As she took a moment to consider him, something began to thread its way around her anger. He was taller than her, but not too tall. Danger oozed from him in waves of intimidation. His eyes weren't just dark. They were like deep night, black, distant, and dispassionate. His mouth was the opposite of unemotional, however. Nothing more than thin lines showed, and Claire faltered.
He really did resemble a pirate, even more so up close. She glanced back and realized how far she'd have to run if escape became necessary.
"Permission to come aboard granted," he said with slow, smooth precision.

Pirate's Promise

(Tropical Persuasions Book 2)

Three promises.
Two lives on the edge.
One undeniable love.

THE STORY:

Everything attorney Julia Branholt has worked for is about to tank thanks to one stubborn, bull-headed pirate named Hakon "Hawk" Thoralssen. It's not enough that she's forced to take him on as yet another pro bono case, but someone bails the man out in her name. This ethical nightmare could mean disbarment...and the end to a promise she made her father. So Julia goes rogue and follows Hawk.

When sabotage threatens to destroy the home of his late wife, Hawk rushes to save the village. He didn't bargain on a hot-tempered attorney following him. Especially not one who fills him with a heat he's chosen to deny.

The only way to save Tierra Bonita means working together. Can this village of kind-hearted, affectionate people draw Hawk and Julia out of their self-imposed isolation and open their hearts to new promises?

REVIEWS:
Given 5 hearts from The Romance Studio!

TRS

"This well-written, character-driven novel is both suspenseful and poignant. The characters are absolutely wonderful."

EXCERPT:

Julia watched in horror as her mind's eye brought his words to life. He was a roaring lion, insane with grief and fear, tossing men every which way to get free, to save his mate.
"How can I help?" she asked.
Hawk rose and returned to the table. A small spark of his arrogance returned as he sat down.
"It's simple. Bail me out."
"Simple. Right. Just bail you out. Never mind that I don't have that kind of money, or that it's unethical. I could get disbarred."
"Then find another way," he said.
Julia began to drum her fingers on the table as she searched for any solution. There was only one that she could come up with.
"Your father called me."
Hawk stiffened. "What did that bastard want?"
"He warned me about you."
"I can just bet," he spat.
"Hawk, I think you need to ask your father for help."
"Absolutely not."
Julia threw her hands up in the air. "Why not?"
"Because I said so. Because that bastard wrote me off when I wouldn't play his underhanded games of subterfuge." Hawk shook his head. "Because I refuse to be pulled back into that duplicitous society."
Stubborn fool. "I don't have any other ideas."
"Think of one."
"I'll try, but if you had trouble acquiring funds for your village, what makes you think we can come up with bail?"
"Just get me out of here, Julia. Please. I'm begging you."
"I-"
"Promise me you'll try."
Another promise. She knew full well the weight tied to promises. It plunked you from the beach and chained you to a desk. It sucked any desire for a life beyond work right out of your soul. It ate away at your will until there was nothing left. "You don't know what you're asking."

Dare To Love

(Tropical Persuasions Book 3)

Forever is worth the dare.

THE STORY:

Dare to trust...
Gail Grayson thinks she's found Mr. Right until he disappears without even a phone call. When Aidan resurfaces, she fears he'll desert her again and her already wounded heart will never recover.

Dare to believe...
Maritime piracy operative Aidan Walker doesn't do forever. People always leave. He's learned that lesson well, so he does the leaving before anyone can hurt him again. The problem is, this time his self-protection policy can't keep him from returning to Gail. Drawn to the feisty, spike-haired pixie, he begins to wonder if maybe, just maybe, it's possible to find that one person who won't ever leave.

Dare to love...
Pursued by a cartel leader with a deadly vendetta against Aidan and torn apart by unplanned events and choices made, the two must decide if they have the courage to dare forever.

EXCERPT:

"What do you say we blow this party, find some nice, quiet, uninhabited place, and get to know each other a whole lot better?"
Gail Grayson rolled her eyes, even as her ears tingled at the whispered words. That tingle wound its way past her brain as Aidan Walker settled an arm across the back of the chair.
She'd come to Mexico to help friends celebrate the renovation of a local village. Now, with the dedication behind them, the brightly painted gathering hall was filled to overflowing with locals and visitors all bent on laughter and fun. Two hours ago, Gail had watched Aidan walk into the party like a predatory animal. He'd commandeered the seat next to her and hadn't left. Apparently, the man had trained his sights on her.
Don't think, her mind taunted in response to his question. Just go. Be with him.
It was hard to say no when she took time to appreciate the man whose hand traced the curves of her forearm. Brown hair, cut in a trendy, over-the-eye style, couldn't quite hide the Irish in his green eyes. His lips quirked with mischief while he waited for her acceptance.
Gail's heart joined the chorus, its beat picking up with each slow, tortuous stroke of his hand along her arm.
She wanted to go with him. Lord, how she wanted to. She watched as his finger wound a lazy trail back and forth, and she almost gave in to the hunger that had her ready to explode.
Wide, muscled shoulders and a trim waist only added to the effect he had on her. Aidan Walker was hot. Not just hot, he was tossing flames that threatened to engulf her.
Gail resisted the urge to fan herself, but made the fatal mistake of looking into his eyes. Little lines crinkled at the corners as he watched her, then he raised an eyebrow in challenge.
He knew how her mind was ogling him.
Damn it. This was not how things worked. She always had the upper hand when it came to flirting. Always. This seduction had gone on quite long enough and it was time to take back control.
Resting an elbow on the table, Gail cupped her chin and leaned closer to Aidan. She used her tongue to moisten lips she knew were colored the perfect shade of red and was satisfied to see his eyes dip to follow the movement.
"Isn't that what we're doing?" she asked.
"Huh?" A hint of confusion in his eyes was the only indication she got, but Gail knew she had re-taken the lead.
"I said,"-she paused, giving him time to focus-"isn't that what we're doing? Getting to know each other?" She used the hushed, sensual tone of her voice like a spell and Aidan's green eyes flared with a very gratifying desire as he responded.
"Not even close, darlin'."
Gail allowed her lips to curve into a lazy smile, even as her heart raced. "What would you call it then?"
Aidan's breath fluttered the short hair around her ear as he leaned in. "Foreplay." The word rolled off his tongue like melted chocolate. Deep, dark, and sinful.
Gail craved that bite of chocolate so badly she found it hard to breathe. Sitting back, she ran shaky fingers through her short hair and drew a slow breath.
Round one to you, Aidan Walker.
