Dark Diva Reviews

"Pirate's Promise is another great read from Laurie Ryan and is the sequel to Stolen Treasures. I couldn't put it down because it had romance, suspense, and a sexy hero...that's like icing on an already delicious cake!

Hawk and Julia would appear to be a mismatched couple, but Laurie Ryan wove the pair together so smoothly I was amazed. Her writing flows beautifully and appears effortless. There is an abundance of sexual tension that keeps you just as "on edge" as the characters. I didn't think it lacked anything and I thought it was very well written.

When I read Stolen Treasures, I knew that I just had to read the sequel, Pirate's Promise. I'm so happy I did! Both books went well together, but can also stand alone with no problem whatsoever.

This is only the second book I've read from Laurie Ryan, but I hope to read many more. Her stories are pleasantly romantic, full of adventure, and a whole lot of fun! I highly recommend Pirate's Promise by Laurie Ryan!"

The Story

Everything attorney Julia Branholt has worked for is about to tank thanks to one stubborn, bull-headed pirate named Hakon "Hawk" Thoralssen. It's not enough that she's forced to take him on as yet another pro bono case, but someone bails the man out in her name. This ethical nightmare could mean disbarment...and the end to a promise she made her father. So Julia goes rogue and follows Hawk.

When sabotage threatens to destroy the home of his late wife, Hawk rushes to save the village. He didn't bargain on a hot-tempered attorney following him. Especially not one who fills him with a heat he's chosen to deny.

The only way to save Tierra Bonita means working together. Can this village of kind-hearted, affectionate people draw Hawk and Julia out of their self-imposed isolation and open their hearts to new promises?

Shelly at Dark Diva Reviews had this to say about Stolen Treasures:

Dark Diva Reviews

"Stolen Treasures is a wonderful book! It has romance, adventure, and suspense all wrapped up in one edge-of-your-seat story.

Claire ends up being a stowaway on the Treasure, Dion's yacht that he inherited from his grandfather. Dion is on an undercover mission to help catch pirates who are stealing local yachts from right under the owner's noses.

I like the way Laurie Ryan makes Claire and Dion deny their attraction to each other, which therefore leads to sexual tension. Laurie uses that sexual tension to create some explosive love scenes as they finally give in to their mutual attraction. Stolen Treasures is a book that will make you a little hot-under-the-collar and wishing like crazy you could be Claire (lol)...or maybe just wishing you could have a hunky hero like Dion?

This is my first read from Laurie Ryan and I'm very much looking forward to reading the sequel to Stolen Treasures. Please watch for my review of that sequel, Pirate's Promise coming soon!"

The Story

Claire Saunders is on the brink of realizing her dreams and putting her past behind her. She could care less about a group of pirates preying on San Diego. Nothing will derail her. Or so she thinks, until she finds herself an unwilling passenger aboard a schooner at sea. A reluctant participant in a covert operation, she sails further and further away from everything she's worked so hard for. Without her there, it will all fall apart.

Hot-shot agent Dion Gaetani can't believe he's been saddled with a civilian. Worse--a woman. Guilt-ridden over a prior op gone bad, this is a burden he doesn't need.

Together, they must work in close quarters to capture a rogue band of pirates. The stakes are high. Dion's own boat, the Treasure, is the bait. And an unwelcome yet undeniable desire is the complication.
